Today we had our post-op appointment with Dr. Moody-Antonio. We are 12 days out from surgery and 6 days away from activation!!!
While in the waiting room, I struck up a conversation with another family waiting for a CI consult with Dr. Moody. Their adorable 3 year old son was adopted recently from China. Ironically, the family also just moved here 4 days ago from D.C. and had started the CI process at Hopkins. I assured them that they are in awesome hands here at CHKD! Dr. Moody and the rest of the CI Team are fabulous! I think for the family, seeing Sean doing so well was comforting! I personally find comfort connecting with other CI families and am lucky to already have several new friends on this same journey with their children.
As for our check-up, Sean's surgery site seems to be healing well. On the down side, Dr. Moody was not happy to report that he has double middle ear infections. I asked her how common ear infections are after surgery and was surprised to have her say that Sean is one of her first. Go figure! Sean B. likes to keep things exciting .;( . Dr. Moody also said that considering his age and how common ear infections are that it's hard not to end up with one. So it's 2 weeks of antibiotics and lots of prayers that we don't have any further infections that would effect his implants.
Thankfully we are still on track for Monday's activation and will have a recheck of his ears on this day too.
